Maranta red prayer plants have broad flat leaves in variegated greens with striking red veins, making them a beautiful addition to any space. Their leaves are flat during the day and fold up at night, earning them the name prayer plant. Easy to maintain, they can be used as year-round decor indoors or outdoors. When it comes to watering, make sure to water frequently during the growing season and never allow the potting soil to dry out. These plants are prone to drought, so be sure to water when the top of the potting soil starts to dry.

For fertilizing needs, apply a balanced, water-soluble houseplant fertilizer (10-10-10) at half strength every two weeks from early spring to fall. Avoid over-fertilizing as it can harm the roots.

In terms of sunlight, soil, and potting, Maranta plants prefer acidic soil. A peat-based potting mix with a pH of 5.5 to 6.0 is ideal, or you can mix 2 parts sphagnum peat moss, 1 part loamy soil, and 1 part perlite or coarse sand together.
